Last Friday members of the school communities involved with the amalgamation at the current Orbost Secondary College site to create the Orbost Community College were informed that current Orbost Secondary College principal, Peter Seal, had been appointed provisional principal of the P-12 school.
“I am extremely proud to be able to announce that I have been provisionally appointed as the inaugural principal of the Orbost Community College. This is an exciting time in education for our community and I am looking forward to working with you all as we make this transition,” he said.
Construction works have moved along rapidly at the site and are well on track for the opening at the beginning of the 2024 school year.
Plans are in place during term three for familiarisation sessions for the incoming foundation students of 2024, where prospective students and their parents and carers will be able to meet with current foundation students at both Orbost North and Orbost primary schools as well as the current teaching cohorts while engaging in interactive activities together prior to a more formal transition process during term four.
Current students at both Orbost Primary School and Orbost North will also be involved  in an extended transition program of events for the remainder of the year including an environmental day to be held at Orbost North as well as combining the two schools for Book Week celebrations later in August.
