Engines rumble for the Poker Run

Engines rumble for the Poker Run

The first Saturday in March has been home to the Orbost Annual Poker Run since 2010, and this Saturday is no different.
The 13th annual event last year attracted the largest number of registrations since it began with 192 motorbikes hitting the road from Bairnsdale back to Orbost all in the name of raising vital funds for Ronald McDonald House Monash.
The 2023 ride was dedicated to president, Kevin Goudge's partner, Grace, who had passed since the 2022 event and was honoured for her commitment to the charity ride and her years of devoted service.
Last year's event raised more than $30,000. This weekend's event will be the first to take on a new route which will see riders begin at McDonalds Bairnsdale where registrations are taken from 9.30am before bike stands up at 10.30am sharp.
Riders will then head to the Lindenow Farmers Arms Hotel via Meerlieu and on to the Bruthen Hotel, Marlo via Cape Conran before arriving back at the Orbost Club Hotel from 4pm.
"It's the first year that I can remember that I have received a few phone calls from people who have never been on the ride before, and they are looking for information about it," Mr Goudge said.
"That's a pretty good sign I reckon that it's going to be a good weekend."
