The guest speaker for Orbost Probus Club’s monthly meeting for march was director of clinical aged care services, Kylie Folten from Orbost Regional Health (ORH).
Kylie was born and raised in Gippsland, commenced her career in nursing before advancing to ICU and high care nursing.
She kindly gave up some of her time in her busy schedule to give the Probus members an update and detailed report on the build of Lochiel House and aged care facility at ORH.
Kylie came well presented with plans of the build and a screen presentation informing members the new facility will accommodate 38 residents.
Each room will have its own en suite, catering from low care to high care.
It is a two storey build with views from all rooms with the dining and lounge on the top floor access by lift, it will have magnificent views of the surrounding hills and Marlo flats.
Funding for Lochiel House was provided by the state government which includes an upgrade for the dialysis unit.
Lochiel House will have a café for residents so they can share a coffee or tea with family and friends. There will also be a gym and exercise room, as well as a garden area for residents to enjoy and plant certain suitable plants.
All meals will be cooked onsite with a menu to choose from.
Probus members were so impressed with this new facility and recognise what an enormous benefit it will be for Orbost and surrounding areas.
Kylie is now a permanent resident in Orbost and is excited and passionate about the care the residents will have, and to witness the build from start to finish is a bonus.
Probus would like to thank Kylie for her most informative presentation and who now have more knowledge about this exciting new facility.
Probus also held its annual general meeting for 2025 and was kindly chaired by Bev Farley.
Ros Berns was re-elected as president and Rhonda Thomas as secretary.
