ORBOST SNOWY ROVERS
2024 position: Fifth (nine wins)
Coaching panel: Peter Seal (senior coach), Andrew Kenny (reserves coach) and Sean Nippress (thirds coach).
Vibe check: It’s been another solid pre-season. The Blues are always early starters, liking to stay connected and active over the off season.
Ins: Charlie Mein (Paynesville), Keiran Vickery (Bairnsdale) and Jacob Kane (return).
Outs: Toby Herbert (University), Jacob Farley (Bairnsdale), Andy Malcolm (overseas) and Henry Vine.
Game style: Get the ball and maintain possession.
Players to watch: Coach Peter Seal is expecting another big season from Max Welsh who continues to improve. The club expects to get plenty of senior football into exciting youngsters such as Brayden Fenner, Bobby Bills and Finn Donnellan, while Vickery and Mein are expected to be front and centre.
Wildcard: Jordan Ross has trained the house down and big things are expected from the emerging utility.
Expectations: “We would like to firstly be competitive, obviously win more games than last year, which hopefully gets us into the finals,” coach Seal said.
Analysis: Some really positive ins add to a list which will add some exciting young local talent, though Farley is a huge loss to Bairnsdale. If key players such as Wes Russell can maintain their fitness and stay on the park, finals are a realistic benchmark. Always hard to beat at home which strengthens their case.
