Orbost Bowling Club Pairs Champions, Ron Hatcher and Scott Farnell, along with Beryl Dyce and Lynn O’Brien, recently competed in the Gippsland Bowls Region Championships Pairs event last week at the Lakes Entrance Bowls Club.

The Green Machine representatives didn’t have much luck in the draw, drawn against the Lake Entrance Champion Pairs who had the home ground advantage.

Dyce and O’Brien, went down to Margaret Brandhoj and Lilibeth Hochkins in the first round, 26-5.

Whilst Hatcher and Farnell were quarter final losers to Kevin Dowie and Boyd McPhee, 17-9.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Mixed Pairs Championships will be played on Sunday April 27, commencing at 10.30am.

Entries can be made by adding your names to the list on the outside noticeboard at the Club.

SOCIAL BOWLS

Thursday’s social bowls afternoon was very well supported, as most of the members who attended the meeting in the morning, stayed for the bowling.

Extra players, in the form of two visitors (Ron and Russell) increased the numbers, with two games of 10 ends played, with the winning team for the afternoon being Geoff Lynn (skip), Sue Robinson, Greg Rankin and Ralph Harding.

Despite hotter weather, Sunday’s session was also very well attended, where it was decided to play two games of eight ends with the winners being Rankin (skip), Darryl Jenkins and Jan Lynn.

The next social bowls afternoon will be on Thursday April 17, with bowlers at the club, no later than 12.30pm so that teams can be arranged.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

All members are asked to mark their calendars, with the Annual General Meeting to be held on Sunday May 4, will all members encouraged to attend.
