The Mixed Pairs Championship was held on Sunday with Ron and Gwen Hatcher declared the 2024/25 champions.
The event was held in cool overcast weather, with the match committee using a different format this year with all teams playing three games of 12 ends.
This was due, in part, to the increase in entries from new members.
As an all day event, the first round was played in the morning, followed by a very enjoyable sausage sizzle lunch.
The remaining two games were played in the afternoon, finally finishing around 4pm.
Once all the scores were calculated, the Hatcher came out on top with a score of 54, repeating their success from last year.
In second place, with 50 points were Scott Farnell and Margaret Coulton while third place getters were Greg Rankin and Beryl Dyce on 43.
SOCIAL BOWLS
As the Mixed Pairs Championship matches were held on Sunday, there was only one afternoon of social bowls, held last Thursday.
Held in perfect bowling weather, and with a good attendance of bowlers, the format for the day was three games of six ends.
At the end of the afternoon, there only two teams who had won all of their matches, however they were tied on scores, so after a countback it was decided that the winners were Karen Chenney (skip), Maurice Frank and Trevor Hawkey, while the runners up were Ron Hatcher, Lyn O’Brien and Dennis McCann.
The next afternoon of social bowls will be on Thursday (May 1).
Players are to be at the club no later than 12.30pm.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday at 11am.
All members are encouraged to attend, with social bowls to follow in the afternoon.
