Local powerlifter Kylie Findley was one of the stars of the CAPO ANZAC Day event held at the Slaughterhouse in Moorabin.
CAPO Powerlifting Australia aims to promote the sport of powerlifting in a safe and friendly environment and hosts more than 40 events in Australia each year.
CAPO is the most prolific powerlifting federation in Australia, with a long and extensive history.
Findley was keen to impress in her last major competition prior to the national titles in Queensland in July, and impress she did, finishing with three perfect squats, all national records, and the last two
world records.
After mastering 170 kilograms, she made an attempt at 175, looking for her third world record of the competition but was unsuccessful.
In the the bench, she achieved a national record of 75 kilograms, while in the deadlift, it was again a national record, lifting 170 kilograms.
She made an attempt on 183 kilograms, which would have been another world record, but it wasn’t to be.
Findley was delighted to have finished with a national record total of 410 kilograms.
“Wow what a day, I was honoured to have the third biggest squat on points for the day, and the world records,” Findley said.
It’s been a huge program for Findley, competing in five events in six weeks for five gold medals (three masters and two open), one world record, 13 national records across four federations and numerous personal bests.
Findley was thrilled with the continued support she gets from her team.
