It was a tough day at the courts for Orbost Snowy Rovers in round six of East Gippsland netball last Saturday, with a rampant Lucknow winning all seven matches at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve.
In “A” grade the unbeaten Lucknow were easy winners of the grand final replay, 53-26.
The Blues had no answer to the efficiency of the slick moving Magpie outfit.
The win leaves Orbost precariously placed in fifth place, two games ajar of the top four, with another tough assignment against Boisdale Briagolong at Lochiel Park this Saturday.
Jewel Catlin and Jorja Savory were the pick of the players for the Blues.
The “B” contest was a tight defensive encounter, with Lucknow holding the answers whenever the Blues mounted a challenge.
The Magpies were eventual winners 28-18, with Tamara Heyne, Rachael Gueco and Chloe Shanahan among the best for Orbost.
Lucknow was the dominant victor in “C” grade 47-9, with Megan Humphreys, Sarah Kidd and Laura Poole battling the match out hard for the Blues.
In “D” grade, the Blues were close enough for the most of the match, but couldn’t make an impression up the stretch, as the Magpies drew away to win by 13 goals.
Megan Sage and junior player, Jasmine Westaway impressed for Orbost in the loss.
Situated in fourth place on the ladder, the Blues went into the under 17 match confident of success, but it wasn’t to be, outplayed down the stretch by the fifth ranked side, 31-18.
Makayla Edlington, Jess Griebenow and Lara Seal combined well for the Blues, the loss seeing the Magpies now hot on their heels.
The unbeaten Lucknow was too slick in the under 15s, winning by 19 goals, with Holly Hanratty and Kira Burn playing well for Orbost.
It was a similar scenario in the under 13s, with another unbeaten Magpie side victorious by 38 goals, with London Austin, Hayley Russell and Ruby Faithfull giving their all for the Blues.
