This weekend the Orbost Club Hotel and Lakes Entrance-based musician Olivia Lay are collaborating to bring the inaugural Snowy River Country Music Festival, being held in the old bottle shop this Saturday at Orbost Club Hotel.
The festival is supporting local acts to Gippsland including Orbost’s Sean McGuiness Harvey who is known for his distinctive ‘clawhammer’ guitar style and is no stranger to the local music scene and will be a familiar face for many.
Olivia will also grace the stage.
An established singer songwriter from Lakes Entrance, known for her compelling guitar playing and storytelling, on this night Olivia is bringing a purposely crafted country set never seen before at any of her gigs.
Dog Country is also playing, a band who is new to the gigging scene, they channel the spirit of the old country greats with a gritty twist blending west folklore, Aussie bushranger grit and some familiar tunes. Finishing the live music for the night will be Ethan Calway, an established singer in the country music scene having played at the Tamworth Music Festival, his electrifying live performances are a testament to his exceptional talent blending a powerful voice with spectacular guitar playing.
The event is running from 6pm-11pm with a country-themed dress up, 5ive Canarys food van, pub meals and a mechanical bucking bull.
There is a free courtesy bus on the night running from Bairnsdale, picking up on the way, as well as one running from Marlo.
