Snowy Rail Bridge, Snowy West Landcare, and Moogji Aboriginal Council joined forces last Wednesday for a recent planting of 400 local species plants into the Under Bridge Walk.
These plants had been propagated at the Moogji Nursery and were selected for the Under Bridge Walk zone.
“It was a wonderful team effort, taking only 45 minutes to do the planting. This was an absolute record,” said May Leatch from Snowy West Landcare.
May is also a member of the Snowy Rail Bridge committee.
“People taking the Under Bridge Walk which I also refer to as the ‘Wooden Wonders Walk’ is proving to be a very special feature of all trips to see Orbost’s historic railway bridge,” Ms Leatch said.
“It gives people the opportunity to walk under the bridge and see the marks made by men with their adzes and axes when it was being constructed in 1915.”
