Thursday’s social bowls was again subjected to cold weather at the Orbost Bowling Club with only a handful of hardy souls turning out to play a friendly rollup.

Sunday’s weather initially appeared much better with plenty of members ready to bowl, although they originally planned to play two games, this was changed to one game of 12 ends as the weather became too cold and too windy.

The winning team for the afternoon was Robyn Kellow (skip), Vanessa Frank, Geoff Lynn and Annette Grmusa.

The next social bowls, (weather permitting) will be on Thursday, with bowlers asked to be at the club no later than 12.30pm to allow teams to be chosen.

DRILLS & SKILLS

There were slightly lower numbers at Drills and Skills last Saturday probably due to a combination of the school holidays and a cold early morning breeze.

The coach Ron Hatcher put the participants through drills to improve their ability to judge their weight when bowling and then placed them into teams to play two-bowl triples to test them in a more competitive setting.

The next Drills and Skills will be held at 10am on Saturday.

Bowlers preparing for the game on Sunday, in what initially appeared to be cool but pleasant conditions, but mother nature again played a part. (PS)
Participants in Saturday’s Drills and Skills session rugged up against the very cold conditions, for some quality tuition under the watchful eye of Ron Hatcher. (PS)
