The Orbost Bowls Club hosted two competitive social bowls sessions over the past seven days.
The weather gods were finally kind to the Thursday afternoon crew, with a good turnout of bowlers in attendance, welcoming Kerry Thomas along for a roll.
Two games of eight ends were played with two pairs having equal scores, no matter how the match committee tried to separate them.
So after a draw from the hat, the winners for the day were Maurice and Vanessa Frank, with the runners up being Greg Rankin and Jenny Gurney.
Despite several regular players offering their apologies, for Sunday’s social bowls, there was still a pleasing number of bowlers taking to the greens.
The weather was again perfect for bowls with the match committee organising two games, one of 10 ends and the second of 8 ends.
The winners for the afternoon were Geoff Lynn (skip), Jan Lynn and Denis Smith who won by only one shot over Maurice Frank’s team of Dennis McCann and Rob Black.
The next social bowls will be on Thursday, players to be at the club no later than 12.30pm.
DRILLS AND SKILLS
The weekly coaching session was very well attended, with coach, Ron Hatcher, had the participants initially playing in pairs, using four bowls, with the aim that each player tried to ensure their current bowl was next to the jack by displacing any previous bowl placed by either player.
The players were then organised into a game of two bowl Triples while having to announce to the other players what they were attempting to achieve with each bowl while Hatcher circulated amongst the bowlers to note their progress.
The next Drills and Skill will be on Saturday commencing at 10am and lasting for approximately one hour.
