The Jarrahmond Landcare Group has transformed a former willow-infested paddock beside the Snowy River into a flourishing habitat for native plants, birds and wildlife.
The work is part of the group’s ongoing Linkages Project, which is restoring remnant habitats and connecting them all the way down to the Snowy River.
By creating a healthier, more diverse landscape, the project supports natural checks and balances that benefit both the environment and the wider community.
Plants for the site were supplied by Moogji Nursery and arranged in a Firewise design. Once established, they will help cool the air, slow the wind and provide essential habitat for local species.
“This project shows what can be achieved when community and partners come together,” said Josh Puglisi, Landcare Facilitator with Far East Victoria Landcare.
“It’s about creating resilience in our landscapes and ensuring healthy environments for
the future.”
Jarrahmond Landcare Group Inc are inspired group of passionate locals who have fun when they get together.
The project is supported by funding from the Victorian Government, Victorian Landcare Grants, and the East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority.
