Thursday’s social bowls session at the Orbost Bowls Club saw a return to good numbers with perfect bowling weather.
The match committee organised two bowl triples with two games of 10 ends, with two teams winning both their games,
It was necessary for a countback with the eventual winners being Peter Coulton (skip), Maurice Frank and Trevor Perry on 37 points, with the runners up being Scott Farnell (skip), Lyn O’Brien and Ralph Harding on 34 points.
Sunday’s social bowls provided another cool, windy afternoon, although the wind did subside as the games progressed.
Due to the weather conditions, it was decided to hold two games of only eight ends.
Only one team won both of their matches, with the winning triple for the afternoon being Coulton (skip), Geoff Lynn and Beryl Dyce.
The next Social Bowls afternoon will be on Thursday, with players to be at the club before 12.30pm.
PENNANT SEASON
With the Pennant season now rapidly approaching, two pennant practice matches have been organised with other clubs.
The first match is at Bruthen on the Sunday and the second at Metung on October 11.
Both matches will have a barbecue lunch organised by the hosting club followed by the practice match.
Regardless of whether a bowler has played pennant before, all Orbost club members are welcome to add their name to the player list on the notice board outside the club house.
