The Gippsland East Study Hub opened in Dalmahoy Street for students on November 6, 2020, and celebrate five years of operation on Wednesday, October 8.

Five years open to students and more than 500 students overall registered for the Gippsland East Study Hub – that’s grounds for celebration.

Students registered at any stage with the Study Hub who have completed their courses are invited to come along and celebrate their achievement on Wednesday, October 8.

The event is being held in a hybrid format, with the Regional Education Commissioner (The Hon. Fiona Nash) making an online appearance. If you can’t attend in person, then please join in online.

For catering and organisational planning please register your attendance via the Trybooking website.

Gippsland East Study Hub, located within the old High School in Dalmahoy Street opened for students on November 6, 2020.

Since then, steadily increasing numbers of students have registered in order to pursue their part-time or online studies. Across all the Gippsland East Study Hub sites there are currently around 130 students, undertaking 69 different courses from 48 different education providers.

Courses vary from year 12 VCE through to post-graduate doctorates.

The high school in Dalmahoy Street has a long history of education and learning.

It was originally opened in 1912 as a private school before becoming the Bairnsdale High School.

After the high school fully moved to McKeon Street at the end of 1976, the site provided educational opportunities

for adults, initially through Bairnsdale Adult Community Education Inc (BACE) and then Gippsland East Learn Local Alliance (GELLA). The site now has more than 110 years of achievement in learning and education.

The Gippsland East Study Hubs provide study spaces, access to high-speed internet and computer facilities in Yarram, Heyfield, Omeo, Orbost, Mallacoota, Sale and Bairnsdale.

Study Skills support is available either in-person or online. Study Hubs are supported by the Australian Government through the Regional University Study Hubs program.

If you are studying, or about to commence, and would like further information please either call into the office at 27

Dalmahoy Street, or visit their website for

more details.
