The teams chosen to play at Metung

SOCIAL BOWLS
Despite cool, overcast and very windy conditions, there was a good attendance of bowlers for last Thursday’s social bowls afternoon.
The match committee arranged two games of 10 ends, however, the second game had to be shortened when a squall came through but enough ends had been played to allow winners to be determined.
The only two game winning team for the afternoon was Karen Chenney (skip), Maurice Frank, Jan Lynn and Lorraine Hawkey.
Sunday’s social bowls hosted the October open pairs which was played in hot sunny weather, at times, with a strong breeze.
With prize money of $200 on offer, there was a good number of entries with six of
the available seven rinks in use.
To add to the number of bowlers, the club was pleased to welcome Barry and Eileen Munns as visitors.
The format for the day was three games of six ends, Ron and Gwen Hatcher took first place, with second place going to Maurice and Vanessa Frank followed by Bruce Kneebone and Scott Farnell in third.
The next Social Bowls will be on Thursday with bowlers requested to be at the club
no later than 12.30pm.
DRILLS AND SKILLS
The final Drills and Skills for the season was held last Saturday with very good attendance.
Coach, Ron Hatcher initially went through the various hand and foot signals that skips and team members can use to convey messages from opposite ends of a rink.
Ron then split the bowlers between various rinks where he had already set up an
assortment of bowling scenarios which the bowlers had to complete before moving on to another rink.
The club and all bowlers who attended these coaching sessions would like to sincerely thank Ron for his time and patience in passing on his knowledge to other members
during almost five months of Saturday mornings sessions.
Thanks should also go to Geoff Lynn, who filled in for Ron on the few occasions he was not available.
