Orbost went down to Wy Yung in an entertaining
and quick “B” grade Bairnsdale Cricket Association match at the Orbost Community College last Saturday.
The Blues were bowled out for just 35 in 19 overs, but inspired spells from Jordan Ross (three wickets) and Atinderdeep Singh (two) made the Tigers at least earn victory, winners in the 11th over for the loss of six wickets.
Orbost will be hoping for a change of fortunes and form this week, when they head to Buchan to take on the Cavemen.
In the under 16s Bruthen/Orbost were no match for Lucknow on Saturday morning, going down by 95 runs at Hudson/Alvin Oval.
The Magpies made an impressive 1/139 from their 25 over allocation, with James Bittner taking the wicket for the combine.
In reply Bruthen/Orbost knuckled down and batted through their overs diligently, without ever threatening victory, reaching 9/44 by close of play.
This week they will welcome Wy Yung to the Bruthen Recreation Reserve, while the under 13s will play West Bairnsdale on Friday night at the Bairnsdale City Oval.
The Orbost Cricket Club will conduct a games night on Saturday night at the clubrooms from 7.30pm, with pool, darts, table tennis, red cup and golf chipping set to amuse and bring out the competitive spirit in participants.
The bar will be open, music playing and laughs guaranteed.
