Orbost Snowy Rovers Football Netball Club has reinforced its commitment to local talent, appointing Clancy Bennett and Brett Morrison as co-coaches of the senior football team for the 2026 season.
Following a strong 2025 campaign that saw the Blues reach the preliminary final, the club is eager to build on that momentum.
Club president Royston Nettleton said preseason training would kick off on Monday, November 10.
“Both Clancy and Brett bring a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for the club and community,” Nettleton said.
“Their focus will be on developing local talent and keeping Orbost competitive for years to come.”
Bennett, originally from Cabbage Tree Creek and a former Orbost North Primary School student, brings a decorated football résumé. A premiership coach at Mirboo North in 2017, he guided the team to a grand final win in the then Mid Gippsland League as a playing coach.
Across his career, he has played in three premierships with Mirboo North and added further grand final wins with Dimboola and Goodwood Saints, a Division One club in Adelaide.
At 42, Bennett hasn’t ruled out playing in 2026.
Morrison, a long-time club stalwart and local small business owner, strengthens the coaching panel’s community ties. He has played more than 150 games for Orbost and served as assistant coach to Peter Seal for the past two seasons.
Morrison coached the Under 15s football team to a premiership in 2023.
“We want to continue building on the success and culture that former coach Peter Seal has brought,” Nettleton said.
“Both Clancy and Brett have deep roots in Orbost and know what this club means to the town.”
The OSR’s committee hopes the blend of Bennett’s experience and Morrison’s club knowledge will continue to push the Blues forward as they aim for another finals run in 2026.
