The major upgrade to the Mallacoota streetscape is looking great for the Christmas holiday rush, according to local MP Darren Chester.
Mr Chester secured funding from the previous Federal Government for the Mallacoota
streetscape project, which has been officially opened.
“The project has delivered safety upgrades for pedestrians and improved drainage, as well as significant landscape works which protect the amenity of the popular coastal town,” Mr Chester said.
“The former Federal Government provided $1.5 million for the works, which were managed by East Gippsland Shire Council. I’m working with Council to overcome issues with long vehicle parking, which is a problem for many of our towns that attract visitors with large caravans and boats.
“Mallacoota is a fantastic place to take a break at any time of the year, and with the weather warming up, it’s going to be a busy
holiday season.
