The Bairnsdale Cricket Association “B” grade fixture between Lakes Entrance and Orbost was unfortunately abandoned due to rain late on Saturday afternoon.
The Seagulls had worked themselves into a strong winning position before Mother Nature intervened.
Orbost has been a big improver in recent weeks, despite remaining winless and again worked hard to make 7/124 from 40 overs at the Orbost Recreation Reserve.
Opener Atinderdeep Singh top scored with 34, as the Blues worked hard and put value on their wickets, something that is sure to hold them in good stead for the remainder of the season.
In reply, Lakes Entrance was 1/115 with 19 overs remaining when play was called off, the visitors left to lament the far East Gippsland weather.
Orbost will trek to Bairnsdale this week to take on St Mary’s Nagle at Nagle College.
In the under 16s, Bruthen/Orbost had a bye, and this week will host Lindenow South Glenaladale this
Saturday at the Orbost Recreation Reserve.
The under 13s will head to Lakes Entrance on Friday to take on the Seagulls White team in a local derby at St Brendans Primary School.
