As the countdown to December 25 begins, towns across East Gippsland are preparing for a massive night of festivities, with Orbost and Maffra set to host major community events this Christmas Eve.
In Orbost, the annual Christmas Eve Festival will once again transform Nicholson Street into a hub of holiday cheer.
Hosted by the Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Rotary Club of Orbost, the event kicks off at 6pm on Wednesday, December 24.
Locals can expect a packed itinerary, featuring market stalls, food vans, and late-night shopping opportunities for those last-minute gifts.
Families are advised to be ready for the night’s special guest, with Santa Claus set to pay a visit.
As the street festivities wind down, the celebration will move to Forest Park for Carols by Candlelight, concluding with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
Over in Maffra, the festive spirit will be in full swing at the Maffco Brewery and Distillery.
The venue is hosting the “MAFFCO X-MAS EVE” celebration, starting at 6pm.
Billed as the “jolliest night of the year,” the ticketed event will feature live music and a chance for locals to catch up before Christmas Day.
With strict capacity limits in place, residents are encouraged to book early to secure their spot at the beer hall.
Nearby, the Farmers Arms Hotel in Newry is also hosting a Christmas Eve Party from 8am, featuring live music in the beer garden and Christmas raffles, ensuring the Maffra district is well-catered for ahead of the
big day.
