Residents of Orbost and the surrounding district are being urged to have their say on the future of the local outdoor pool, as East Gippsland Shire Council begins a major review of its aquatic facilities.
Council is currently developing the East Gippsland Aquatic Strategy to guide future investment, service delivery, and infrastructure planning across the entire shire.
To assist in this process, council has engaged external consultants, @leisure Planners, to gather data on how pools are currently used and what communities hope to see in the future.
The Orbost District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ODCCI) is leading the call for locals to participate, stressing that a high volume of feedback from the Orbost region is vital to ensuring the facility remains a priority for council.
While the survey is currently the primary method of consultation, ODCCI has formally requested the consultants visit Orbost to meet with local user groups in-person.
The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and covers topics ranging from current usage habits to aspirations for infrastructure upgrades.
With the strategy set to determine where funding and resources are allocated for years to come, community members are being encouraged to take the survey.
The survey can be found on the YourSay website, and closes on Friday, May 29 2026.
