Volunteers at the Mallacoota Fire Brigade are celebrating a major milestone following the official handover of their long-awaited new station change rooms.
The brigade received its official Certificate of Occupancy on Wednesday, July 1, marking the completion of a modern facility that drastically improves operational conditions for local firefighters.
The upgrade remedies a long-standing space constraint at the local station, moving preparation areas out of active vehicle zones.
“No longer do we have to don our protective clothing in the corner of the engine bay,” a brigade spokesperson said.
The project was made possible through funding from the Country Fire Authority’s (CFA) Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP), alongside the dedicated work of local builders, contractors, and community supporters over the past three years.
With the new space now fully operational, the brigade is looking to the future and hoping to bolster its ranks.
“We have plenty of hooks ready for new members to join us,” the spokesperson said.
