Sailor's Grave Brewing is celebrating 10 years of operation next month, with a special celebration locked in for Saturday, August 8.

Regional craft beer pioneer Sailor’s Grave Brewing is celebrating a decade of operation in East Gippsland with its first annual “Lore of the Tongue Day” on Saturday, August 8.

Hosted at the brewery’s Dunetown farmhouse property on Marlo Plains Road, the event is billed as a celebration of the community, local produce, and seasonal craft brewing.

Running from 3pm until late, the festival will center around a series of culinary and artistic collaborations.

A central feature of the day will be an hourly ritual.

Every hour, a ceremonial bell will ring, a new “Law” will be proclaimed, a fresh keg of Lore of the Tongue smoky oyster stout will be tapped, and a unique oyster pairing will be unveiled.

The oysters are being supplied by Shane Buckley of Wapengo Rocks Wild Organic Oysters and will be presented throughout the day by Isabelle Pearl Love-Dack of Finn’s Oyster Bar.

The festival features a strong lineup of regional culinary partners, including Sodafish, The Long Paddock and The Local Marlo.

At sunset, the event will host the official launch of a new brewery mural.

The mural is designed as a living, evolving piece of artwork that will continue to develop long after the festival concludes.

Live music throughout the evening will be provided by Smugglers Moon and Whiskey Dram to accompany the fireside gathering.

Attendees can choose from several ticketing options, including standard entry, the structured “Lore Passport Experience,” and campsite add-ons for those wishing to stay overnight.

Bus transfers will also be operating from Orbost and Marlo.

Due to capacity limits, organisers have advised that tickets must be booked in advance via the Sailor’s Grave Brewing website.
