Fishing enthusiasts and families are invited to dust off their rods and head to the banks of Cowwarr Weir for the return of the popular Cowwarr Carp Fishing Competition on Saturday, August 22.
The land-based event will run from 10.30am to 3pm, with official presentations scheduled for 3.30pm. Organisers will also provide a free barbecue lunch at 12.30pm for attendees.
Prizes will be awarded for the longest carp across junior and sub-junior boys and girls categories, as well as for the longest bag of carp (two to five fish) per single, couple, or family membership.
Organisers describe the competition as a community-focused event designed to offer a relaxed atmosphere while introducing young anglers to the sport.
As a land-based competition, strict rules apply requiring that no caught carp be returned to the water.
Anglers and spectators alike are encouraged to bring family and friends to take part in the day’s activities.
