The Orbost Arts Centre is set to showcase regional theatrical talent this weekend with an afternoon of One Act Plays scheduled for Sunday, August 16.
Presented by the Bairnsdale Production Line Theatre Company Inc., the event marks the third instalment of short plays the amateur theatre group has brought to the Orbost venue.
The upcoming showcase will feature three distinct short plays: Ghost Writer by Cerise de Gelder, A Nice Cup of Tea by Jos Biggs, and N.D.E. by Philip Ayckroyd.
For the actors involved, the One Act Plays series serves as an important developmental opportunity.
The format allows cast members to take on new and challenging roles under the
guidance of experienced mentors, helping them refine their performance skills in preparation for larger, full-length productions.
The Bairnsdale Production Line Theatre Company is a long-running, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fostering cultural expression and community enjoyment through fresh, engaging theatre concepts.
While the company typically stages its larger productions at the Forge Theatre in Bairnsdale—including a recent run of the comedy ‘Allo ‘Allo – its traveling performances have built a positive reputation in neighbouring communities.
Orbost local Clare McClelland previously praised the group’s performances, describing them as “impressive, surprising, hilarious… engaging, uplifting, and great value for money.”
The performance will begin at 2pm on Sunday, August 16, at the Orbost Arts Centre.
