It was a proud night for the Orbost Hockey Club at the annual Gippstar awards last Thursday night at the Morwell Bowling Club.
The club was honoured to win Club of the Year, while secretary Bree Kenny was recognised with the Special Achiever Award.
It marked a special moment for the club, which has been part of the local fabric for 63 years.
The awards reflect the dedication of players, families, coaches, umpires, committee members, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who keep showing up week after week.
Built on generations of families, the club sees junior players grow into leaders, women continuing to play as their children come through the ranks and volunteers quietly delivering the effort needed to make game day possible.
Kenny was recognised as one of those quiet achievers, having contributed immense time, care and energy over many years. While much of her work happens behind the scenes, her impact on the club remains enormous — a fitting acknowledgement for a community club and the dedication behind it.
