Lindenow South have tuned up for a crack at three-peat of premierships in the Omeo Football Netball League junior competition, with an easy 128-point win over Buchan in last Saturday’s preliminary final at the Omeo Recreation Reserve.
They will go in as underdogs this week against Omeo Benambra in a replay of last year’s decider at the Bruthen Recreation Reserve.
The Swampies ran out 19.26 (140) winners over the young Cavemen 2.0 (12), with Buchan kept scoreless in the second half.
Tyrell Shiels led the goal kicking with a career best six goals, working well in tandem with Mason Irish who booted five in another impressive performance from one of the most promising players at the club.
Jack Hume chipped in with Mitchell Preston and Kalen Fry, finishing with two each.
Best players were plentiful, with the coaching panel opting for Casey Roy, Hayden Roy, Fry, Irish, Dominic Faithfull, and Alexander Berry but there were plenty of others who were unlucky not to be included.
Campbell Mathers, Cruz Anderson, Harry Davidson, Campbell Hill, Charlie Henderson, and Jackson Murphy all battled hard for the Cavemen, who should be proud of their effort progressing to the preliminary final from fourth spot.
The Swampies don’t have any time to dwell on one of their better performances of the year, an appointment with fate just days away.
