East Gippsland Water’s community conversations on the future of local water services are continuing, with residents encouraged to attend one of the remaining Urban Water Strategy workshops.
The workshops are helping shape East Gippsland Water’s next Urban Water Strategy, which will guide how water and wastewater services are planned, managed and delivered across the region over the coming decades.
Community members have already shared their ideas and priorities at sessions held in Paynesville, Orbost, Metung, Omeo, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
East Gippsland Water Acting General Manager Sustainability and Infrastructure Jeff Rose said the workshops were providing valuable insights from communities across the region.
“We appreciate the time people have volunteered to attend our workshops. The feedback we’ve received from attendees has been thoughtful, constructive and highly valuable,” Mr Rose said.
“We encourage anyone who hasn’t yet attended a session to come along and share their views.
Community input will play an important role in shaping the strategy and helping us understand local priorities.”
The remaining workshops will be held at:
– Mallacoota Community Clubrooms, Tuesday September 1, 1pm to 3pm
– Johnsonville Hall, Thursday August 27, 1pm to 3pm
– Buchan Recreation Reserve, Thursday September 3, 4pm to 6pm
An online webinar is being planned for September for people who are unable to make an in-person session.
Community input will help East Gippsland Water better understand local priorities, challenges and opportunities, from water security and climate resilience to population growth, environmental outcomes and community expectations.
