This year, Orbost Community College has continued to strengthen vocational education opportunities for local students through its partnership with TAFE Gippsland.
Students enrolled in the Certificate II in Cookery program have been developing their skills in the college’s newly constructed commercial kitchen, gaining hands-on experience in a modern training environment.
Meanwhile students undertaking automotive studies are also benefiting from accredited TAFE training delivered in the auto engineering shed located adjacent to the school oval.
The partnership has provided significant benefits for local students by reducing the need for extensive travel to larger regional centres.
Instead TAFE Gippsland trainers visit Orbost Community College, allowing students to access industry recognised qualifications while remaining in their local community.
The program has proven to be highly successful so far, giving students valuable practice skills, nationally recognised training and pathways to future employment and further education all without leaving Orbost.
Orbost Community College and TAFE Gippsland look forward to continuing this successful collaboration and expanding opportunities for local students in the
years ahead.
