Council launches digital dashboard

East Gippsland Shire Council has launched a digital dashboard – named Council IQ – designed to give the community greater visibility into council’s data, decisions and performance.

Council IQ is a key part of council’s commitment to transparency, providing information in an accessible and easy-to-understand format.

Council IQ can be accessed from the home page of council’s website.

Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth said Council IQ is a councillor-led initiative focused on strengthening transparency and helping the community better understand council’s work.

“We want our community to have an easy way to understand the work council is doing, the decisions we make and how we are performing,” Cr Ashworth said.

“Council IQ gives people an easy way to explore council’s data, decisions and performance. Bringing this information together in a format that is accessible and easier to understand.

“By making this information easier to explore, we can help build a more informed, engaged and connected East Gippsland community.”

The dashboard has been launched alongside council’s new website, which has been redesigned to make it easier for people to find council services, information and online resources.

The new website features clearer navigation, plain English content and improvements to accessibility, with the structure informed by community feedback and research into how people use council websites.

Cr Ashworth said the two initiatives work together to improve the community’s access to council.

“The new website makes it easier to find information and services, while Council IQ provides a clearer view of the information behind council’s work.

“Together, they are about making council more accessible – whether you need to complete a council transaction, find information about a service, or want to understand more about the decisions council is making.”

The new website and dashboard were designed and built by council in-house.

A chatbot is also currently being developed and will be introduced later this year, providing another way for people to find information and answers through the council website.
