The Emergency Services Pathways Expo brought hundreds of East Gippsland students, emergency services, Aboriginal community organisations and industry partners together for a hands-on day of emergency preparedness, career exploration and community resilience on Thursday, September 17, at Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust (Bung Yarnda).
Hosted by Moogji Aboriginal Council and Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust (Bung Yarnda), with support and attendance from Australian Red Cross, Ford Philanthropy and Ford Australia, the event attracted between 300 and 500 local students.
The day featured emergency services displays, demonstrations and activities, interactive career pathway opportunities, and Emergency Services Panel discussions. Australian Red Cross delivered EmergencyRedi Week activities and launched its MOBRedi Program, while a RAAF flyover added to the occasion.
Hundreds of students engaged directly with emergency services personnel, with community leaders, Aboriginal organisations and emergency services representatives together on Country.
The expo was part of the broader EmergencyRedi Week campaign (September 14–20), Australian Red Cross’s annual national preparedness week, which encourages people to take preparedness actions before disasters occur.
