Free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training will be delivered across four remote East Gippsland communities this October and November to equip residents, local businesses, and community groups with essential crisis response skills.
Facilitated by a licensed instructor, the comprehensive two-day course will run in Swifts Creek, Omeo, Cann River and Dargo.
The sessions are designed to help individuals recognise and safely respond to emerging mental health concerns. For regional businesses and organisations, completing the training also helps fulfill psychosocial hazard obligations under Australian Work
Health and Safety legislation.
Each participant will receive an official MHFA manual and earn a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the program.
All workshops will run from 9am to 3pm daily, with morning tea and lunch provided.
The regional training schedule includes:
– Swifts Creek and Ensay: Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7 at the Swifts Creek Bush Nursing Centre (17 McMillan Street, Swifts Creek);
– Omeo: Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9 at the Omeo Community Hall and Hub (179 Day Avenue, Omeo);
– Cann River: Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21 at the Cann River Bush Nursing Centre (27 Monaro Highway, Cann River); and
– Dargo: Monday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 10 at the Dargo Bush Nursing Centre (72 Lind Avenue, Dargo).
