Festival with something for everyone

12 December 2018
in Local News

The Christmas Eve Festival will be bigger and better than ever this year with a range of new attractions.

The theme of the night will be ‘something for everyone’ with market stalls and displays, jumping castles for younger children, a bucking bull for the older ones and a dunking machine.

A highlight of the night will be a family circus stunt show. Other attractions are still to be confirmed.

The festival committee has completed the decoration of the Tara Street Christmas tree, which looks colourful both during the day and at night. The decorations in the main street are nearly finished and there is an opportunity for children to add decorations to the three small Christmas trees near the Snowy River Mail office.

The best-decorated houses around the district will be judged in the week prior to Christmas. To assist in identifying all decorated houses the committee asks that addresses be registered with the Snowy River Mail or by posting on the festival’s Facebook page. A map will be published in the Snowy River Mail next week. The Chamber of Commerce lucky shopper competition is operating in the town again this year. To be in the draw all you need to do is spend more than $20 at a participating business in town and fill out an entry form. There will be $100 draws each Friday and the major draw of $500, $200 and $100 vouchers will take place at the festival on Christmas Eve.

As usual, the highlight of the night will be the fireworks, which will commence after dark at Forest Park.

Anyone with queries about the festival should contact one of the organising committee members from Rotary (Peter Van den Oever and Catrynes van der Vlugt) or Chamber of Commerce (Susan Hooper, Tracey Barnett, Garry Squires, Jane Crofts and Tric Christy).

The committee encourages all families to head along to Nicholson Street on Christmas Eve for a great family night. There will be a program showing times and further details in the Snowy River Mail next week as well as regular postings on the Christmas Eve Festival Facebook page.
