Tea cosies and garden artworks

Walk into the Orbost Exhibition Centre (OEC) over the next three weeks and you will be welcomed by a sea of colour from the many exhibits being displayed.

Wearing butternut orange and matching accessories, Cr Marianne Pelz officially declared the Community Art Exhibition open last Saturday, congratulating the artists for all the contributions to the show.

Cr Pelz made reference to the continuation of the use of the wonderful space the OEC provides, a centre that the Orbost community can be very proud of.

From the Orbost Early Learning Centre to Orbost Regional Health’s Slick Chicks and Lochiel House, entries cover all ages, all imaginations and many colours.

Seeing is believing, with such things as ‘solar pumpkins’, a ‘witch’s house’ pumpkin, tea cosy pumpkins, wooden pumpkins for garden display and many more ideas.

Visit the exhibition and try to find the little garden pitchfork, the ladybird, the wren and even an elf sitting on the doorsteps of the ceramic pumpkin house.

Be prepared to admire the ‘Pumpkin Family, with Mum, Dad and babies, or be fascinated by air clay jewelled pumpkins.

The more times you look at the exhibits, the more things can be found in each article, whether it’s technique or something quirky.

The Community Art Exhibition is open until Easter Sunday, April 21, from 10am to 4pm. It is a wonderful exhibition for the people, by the people. Entry is free.
