Leading on from great success at last year’s event, Snowy Flamingo’s Cancer Support Group members are gearing up for another Flamingo Fling in August.
Group members and other generous community groups, businesses and individuals participated and contributed to the 2018 Flamingo Fling, the funds raised by this event paying for a pamper day for ladies affected by cancer with the remainder donated to Orbost Regional Health (ORH) for improvements to Room 7 in the hospital section.
Room 7 is used for patients with various needs, including maternity and palliative care patients.
Improvements to the room included a sliding door onto a small patio section to enable patients to sit outside in a private garden with room for family to sit and have a cup of tea with their loved ones. These works are completed and will benefit all local patients and their families who come to the hospital for specialised care.
This year’s Flamingo Fling will comprise of a high tea, a fashion parade and a monster auction and will be held at the Orbost Golf Club on Wednesday, August 21.
Funds raised will once again pay for the annual pamper day with remaining funds to be donated to ORH for further improvements to Room 7.
The intention of the Flamingo Fling is to promote local businesses and to keep funds in Orbost to benefit individuals and their families during the most difficult times of their lives.
If you would like to support the 2019 Flamingo Fling High Tea, tickets are available at the Snowy River Mail office.
