Last Wednesday, July 31, marked the beginning of the newest competition to sweep Orbost by storm – lucky fiver – and it wasn’t long before the competition nabbed its first winner.
The Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ODCCI) is conducting the lucky fiver competition in partnership with the Orbost Club Hotel for the month of August.
Last week’s lucky fiver note had been in circulation for just over 24 hours when local, Ian Jones, picked it up, he believes, from the Orbost Bakery.
“I had grabbed the Snowy River Mail and had been to the $2 shop and bakery before going home where I was flicking through the paper and saw the ad,” Ian said.
“Realising I had just got a five-dollar note I went and checked the serial number and sure enough it was the winner.”
Ian received his $200 worth of ODCCI vouchers from chamber president, Susan Hooper, on Friday morning and was rather stoked with his win.
A second lucky fiver has been released into circulation today. Find its serial number in the advert below. Keep an eye on five-dollar notes in your change this week and you could be the next lucky winner.
If the lucky fiver is unclaimed by noon next Monday, August 12, the prize pool will jackpot and a new serial number of the lucky fiver will be released.
