In 2015 a condition assessment of the Snowy Rail Bridge was done by TRAM Engineers and Services P/L and it was on the basis of this report that the campaign to Save the Snowy Rail Bridge began.
Now, seven years later, a new study of the condition of the bridge is underway.
Results from this study will provide vital information to allow the Save the Snowy Rail Bridge Committee to chart the way forward for this landmark bridge and the restoration project.
Wood Research and Development (WRD), a specialist timber structural engineering consultancy which designs and rehabilitates structures, has been engaged by Save the Snowy Rail Bridge for the Orbost project.
This group was chosen because of its extensive experience in rail trail bridge design and restoration of existing trestle bridges.
