Boisdale Briagolong was too good for Orbost Snowy Rovers in the seconds and reserves last Saturday in round 13 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League at Lochiel Park.
Low on numbers and with several senior players out injured, the Blues were competitive at the start of quarters before fatigue set in, the Bombers ramming home the advantage late, running out 100-point victors.
Orbost never gave up and was rewarded for its efforts in the second half with a couple of morale lifting majors.
Among the best for the Blues were Brad McDonald, Hayden Mitchell, Tim Findley, James Joiner, Andrew Kenny and Shaun Waddell.
It was a disappointing loss in thirds for Orbost Snowy Rovers, ranked second, it was outplayed in the second quarter by the fourth-rated Bombers, who hang on to win by 13 points.
After an even opening, the Bombers kicked four goals to one in the second stanza to open up a 17-point half time buffer, which proved a task too big for the Blues.
They made several concerted efforts but vital goals at crucial times for the Bombers maintained the advantage right to the wire.
Jacob Farley kicked two goals for the Blues and was named among the best players with Brayden Fenner, Andrew and Tye Robinson, Beau Hanratty and Toby Herbert.
Kruze Farley and Angus Joiner remain tied in second place in the competition goal kicking on 23 goals, three behind Lindenow’s Kobe Smith.
