Orbost Garden Club recently held its annual general meeting.
At the meeting, it was announced that the executive committee for the year 2024/25 consists of president: Bev Farley; secretary: Marcia Valentine and treasurer: Suzanne McDougall who undoubtably will get the job done with the help of the supportive members who were eager to contribute suggestions for upcoming events and guest speakers.
The show bench consisted of some lovely colour and in particular the floral art section has produced some interesting exhibits in the past year which generally involves the use of other items, not vases and is open to any type of arrangement as long as it has some horticultural materials used.
A rose pruning working bee was to be held at the Sensory Gardens however, the rain dampened those ideas and now it is scheduled for today, weather dependent.
Participants are welcome to take free cuttings in exchange for lending a hand as well as morning tea.
The two roses grown at Orbost’s Sensory Gardens are ‘The Children’s Rose’ which is pale pink in colour with a strong growing bush rose with healthy green foliage.
The flowers have a beautiful fragrance and lovely long stems for picking.
The darker pink rose on site is ‘Angela’ a modern shrub rose, which creates a stunning display.
