It was a disappointing trip for Orbost Snowy Rovers reserves and thirds sides, going down to Lindenow in round 14 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
The reserves put up a determined effort against a Cats outfit keen to bank another vital four points as they battle for a much sought-after place in the top four.
After a slow start, the Blues worked back into the game in the second quarter, ceasing the lead in the shadows of half time with some quality finishing in the forward 50.
Both sides threw everything at each other in the premiership quarter, Orbost weathering the storm, holding a narrow two-point advantage with 20 minutes to play.
But with a lack of numbers and minimal rotations, the Cats were able to overrun the gallant Blues in the final term to win by 24 points, Orbost held scoreless as Lindenow ran rampant.
Chris Downward kicked two goals for the Orbost, while the better players were Tim Findley, Finn Donnellan, James Joiner, Todd Griebenow, Jimy Derbyshire and Brad McDonald.
The unbeaten Lindenow came from behind to defeat Orbost Snowy Rovers in a high clash thirds match between the competition’s best two sides.
After an even first term, the Blues asserted their authority in the second term, kicking three goals to one, to open up a handy 13-point buffer at half time.
But as you would expect from a good side, the Cats responded, overwhelming the young Blues with a six goals to one effort in the second half to win by 18 points.
Angus Joiner kicked three goals for the Orbost and was joined in the best players by Donnellan, the consistent Jacob Farley, Dean Tatti, Fletcher Kleinitz and Jet Kane.
