Orbost Probus Club’s August meeting saw the celebration of its 33rd birthday.
Instead of having a guest speaker, members learnt the intricacies of indoor bowls with the coaches president Ros Berns along with husband Harry and assistant coach Flora Smooker guiding members down the green carpet.
Everyone participated and enjoyed the exercise and team spirit.
All adjourned for lunch provided by member Lorraine Joiner and Ms Smooker.
Ms Smooker also made a delicious sponge birthday cake with candles which Ms Berns blew out before singing Happy Birthday.
Orbost Probus members recently travelled to Bruthen to meet the Mitchell River Bairnsdale Probus members to catch up over lunch at the Tambo Honey cafe.
Ex–Orbost member Ann Flavell has joined the Mitchell River Probus and was pleased to see Orbost Probus Club members and to Val Eatons’ surprise an old school friend, Ethel, greeted her.
They will be meeting this group again tomorrow, August 29, when they travel to Redcourt for Friendship Day to meet up with Probus Clubs around the district from Traralgon through to Orbost.
Orbost Probus Club re-ignited the Friendship Days two years ago when all the district clubs came to Buchan for a day of friendship and fun.
This year Bairnsdale will be the host at Redcourt and next year Paynesville Probus Club will be the host for Friendship Day.
Orbost Probus members are looking forward to once again meeting up with friends made on previous Friendship Days.
Orbost Probus Club meets at the Senior Citizens Club on the third Thursday of the month.
The next meeting is at 9.30 for a 10am start on Thursday, September 19.
