Senior football runner-up best and fairest: Matt Wilkinson, Boisdale Briagolong.

Stratford ball magnet Lachie Channing rounded off his impressive home and away season by claiming the East Gippsland Football Netball League senior best and fairest on Wednesday night.

Channing polled 22 votes to win by two votes from Boisdale Briagolong ruckman Matt Wilkinson with Orbost Snowy Rovers half backman Max Welsh rounding out the top three on 15 votes.

Channing was named in the Swans’ best players in nine of 16 games and will have a target on his back when his side takes on reigning premier Wy Yung in this Sunday’s elimination semi final at Bairnsdale City Oval.

Wilkinson has had an outstanding season as the league’s premier big man, named in the Bombers’ best on 11 occasions from 15 appearances. He has also shown his goalkicking prowess with a five-goal haul in the final round.

Wilkinson’s minor premiership-winning Bombers take on Lucknow tomorrow for a place in the senior grand final.

Wy Yung’s Caitlyn Wright stormed home to win the “A” grade netball best and fairest with 33 votes, nine ahead of runner-up Hayley Morton from Lucknow.

Lindenow’s David Donchi won the senior football Trade Award, with Stratford’s Paris Toner winning the “A” grade netball equivalent.
