The Marlo Angling Club came alive with laughter, music, and heartfelt camaraderie as the “Girls Night Out” fundraiser, hosted by Orbost local Donna Donchi, brought together women from across the community for an evening to remember on Saturday, August 24.
The event, held in support of the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation, exceeded expectations, raising both spirits and much-needed funds for the cause.
“I am just so blown away with all these people here,” Donna said.
“I was happy if I managed to get together 20 women, but this is bigger than I expected, and I cannot thank you enough.”
The Marlo Angling Club, which had generously offered its venue, was filled with the warmth of fire pots and the energy of lively conversations.
The atmosphere was electric as DJ Deb Bozsan kept the dance floor packed with her infectious tunes, while a spirited karaoke session saw guests take the microphone, singing their hearts out in support of a cause close to the community’s heart.
The event held particular significance for Donna, whose granddaughter Emmie tragically passed away after battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
This personal connection made the fundraiser all the more poignant, as the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation plays a critical role in supporting patients with blood cancers and other life-threatening conditions.
Attendees enjoyed an array of nibbles donated by the Orbost Bakery and Marlo Hotel and the socialising continued late into the night once all of the raffle prizes had been won which were donated by local businesses.
