A huge contingent of developing local basketballers, coaches and parents made the trek down to the Latrobe Valley on the weekend for the annual Morwell Junior Basketball Tournament.
The Orbost Raiders were represented by eight teams, an outstanding contribution from a small association but a daunting task taking on some of the powerhouses of Gippsland basketball, who have huge junior programs.
The Raiders had girls sides in the under 10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups and boys teams in the under 12,14,16 and 19 divisions.
With more than 60 players, the Orbost Basketball Association was delighted with the commitment of everyone involved, with tournaments of the magnitude of Morwell often a logistical nightmare for coaches, managers and parents.
The highlights of the weekend of tough competitive basketball were victories by the under 10 girls and under 16 boys and girls.
The summer domestic season will commence next week.
