Orbost Community College opened its doors last Thursday morning to celebrate National Grandparents Day.
Officially observed on October 27, this day is dedicated to recognising the vital contributions grandparents and other special people make to their families and communities.
It also highlights the diverse relationships between grandparents and grandchildren and celebrates the valued roles older generations play within the community.
The day’s festivities were designed to foster intergenerational learning, providing an opportunity for grandparents and other older community members to engage with the students.
The junior concert band kicked off the celebrations, delighting attendees with a lively performance before the special visitors were invited into the classrooms.
Here, grandparents joined in games, shared memories of their own school days, and admired the students’ work on display.
The event concluded with a morning tea held outdoors, where grandparents and students mingled over refreshments, creating special memories to carry forward.
