The Cann River Lawn Mower Races were a roaring success, drawing hundreds of spectators to the town oval last Saturday despite the sweltering heat.
Organised by the Cann River Community Centre and led by Tony Brown, the event saw 28 competitors, along with their support crews and officials, putting on an unforgettable show for the community.
Participants ranged in age from a spirited four-year-old to an enthusiastic 76-year-old, demonstrating that the thrill of competition knows no bounds.
The lawn mowers roared around the oval, giving spectators plenty of action to cheer for.
Local sponsors and organisers were key to the event’s success, which also featured a bustling market in the hall, offering everything from bric-a-brac to handmade goods.
Food stalls, including the crowd favourites of snow cones and ice cream, provided much-needed refreshment in the heat.
A “Show n Shine” exhibit of many historical motorcycles and cars lined front area, adding another element to the day.
The community’s efforts were met
with glowing feedback, with many attendees calling it one of the best events Cann River has hosted in decades.
There’s already excitement about
making it a regular highlight in the town’s calendar.
