The Future of Orbost and District (FoOD) project is kicking off the new year with two exciting events designed to foster collaboration and drive collective action for local place-based development.
A networking event on February 11, hosted in partnership with the Orbost and District Recovery and Transition Committee, will bring together representatives from local governance groups and executive teams of key organisations.
These organisations all play a pivotal role in the well-being and place-based development of Orbost and district.
Liz Mitchell, chair of the FoOD governance group, highlighted this informal gathering provides an opportunity to share strategic priorities and key challenges for 2025 to explore potential collaborations.
“Many great initiatives are underway across the region, but they’re often not widely known. This event aims to uncover opportunities for greater alignment and collective impact,” Ms Mitchell said.
Additionally, a workshop on February 19 will be held in partnership with the East Gippsland Winter Festival organisers. This session, initiated by the FoOD project’s visitor economy innovation working group, will focus on brainstorming ideas for maximising the benefits of the festival and generating new experiences for Orbost and district.
“The East Gippsland Winter Festival is growing rapidly, and we’re excited to brainstorm fresh ideas that can contribute to its success while enhancing the local economy and community well-being,” Ms Mitchell said.
Registration is essential for both events. For more information, visit the Future of Orbost and District project’s website.
