Unfortunately last week’s deluge of rain meant the Buchan and Gelantipy Racing Club’s track at Canni Creek was deemed unsuitable for racing by Racing Victoria stewards.
However, the club decided to push and on stage a phantom meeting, which was supported by dedicated racegoers, many who have been attending the Buchan races for decades.
People still attended from across Victoria and the regular bus visitors from Sale and the Latrobe Valley were in attendance.
The day included all the regular cup day action, including fashions on the field with plenty of events and prizes to keep everyone entertained as they listened to the on-course entertainment, feasted on the food trucks and indulged in a beverage or two.
The club was delighted with the turn out given the circumstances and looks forward to hosting an even bigger and better event in 2026.
