Only 44 participants battled the wind to run, jog and walk the Lakes Entrance parkrun course last Saturday morning.
Despite the less than ideal conditions, Jamie Darcy still set the course alight, running a sensational 16 minutes and 34 seconds, marginally outside his personal best of 16 minutes and 29 seconds, and within sight of the track record set by Eric Ueda and Xavier Chapman, who have both recorded 16 minute and six seconds for the five kilometre sojourn along the Lakes Entrance foreshore.
Darcy finished well ahead of Nathan East (21.37) and Paul Etheridge (22.09).
The first female past the post was Lauren Hemingway (22.44) in sixth place overall, just behind youngster, Brodie Darcy (23.34), who again impressed with his speed and endurance for one so young.
Despite the lower than normal numbers, there were still 10 first-time participants and three personal best times, with four running groups represented.
Personal best times were registered by Suzie Cruickshank (43.41), Pierre Matthews (42.35) and Sammi Reynolds (37.23) for the third week in a row.
Running groups represented in the event were Lakes and District Runners, Australia Post Group, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club and Ealing Eagles Running Club.
